Tail Tie Adhesive Spray Systems
Spraymation tail tie spray systems apply adhesive to the tail of every finished roll with millisecond timing consistency — across 4 to 24 Electromatic™ applicator heads, all triggered from a single machine signal. Built for tissue and towel converting lines where a loose tail means a rejected roll and a drooling gun means a contaminated one, our tail tie adhesive systems fire uniformly, shut off cleanly, and retrofit onto most OEM converting frames with no machine modification required.
Tail tie adhesive application looks straightforward until you run it at line speed. Double-switch trigger arrangements drift as conveyor speed and product length change, so spray start and duration wander roll to roll. Adhesive drool at the tail edge contaminates product and machine alike. Pneumatic valve stacks add moving parts, maintenance burden, and unplanned downtime. And when a single gun in a bank of ten needs attention, the whole line usually stops with it.
Spraymation tail tie systems are engineered to eliminate each of those failure modes. A built-in programmable electronic timer replaces double-switch complexity entirely, controlling spray start, duration, and shutoff automatically from one machine signal. All applicators fire together for uniform coverage in a single shot. The air circuit pre-fires roughly 30 milliseconds ahead of fluid, so the pattern starts clean at the tail edge instead of dragging adhesive across it. And the patented Electromatic™ applicator at the heart of every head brings one moving part and no dynamic seals to a job that conventional pneumatic valve systems make far more complicated than it needs to be.
Every Spraymation tail tie adhesive system is built on the same programmable control architecture and the same Electromatic™ spray/extrusion applicator platform, configured to the head count and trigger method your converting line requires.
The most widely specified configuration. Ten Electromatic™ applicators actuated simultaneously from a single machine signal, with a programmable electronic timer controlling spray start, duration, and shutoff from the enclosure display. Supplied as a complete system with stainless steel control enclosure, applicator cabling, and fluid handling.

01
One machine signal replaces double-switch systems entirely. Spray start, duration, and shutoff are controlled automatically, so timing stays consistent regardless of conveyor speed or product length.
02
The air circuit pre-fires approximately 30 ms ahead of fluid, preventing the adhesive drool that contaminates product and degrades pattern quality at the tail edge.
03
Distance-based triggering synchronizes spray to actual machine travel rather than elapsed time — the highest-consistency option for lines where speed varies.
04
Individual gun control means a single head can be isolated, tested, or bypassed for partial-line production without a full machine shutdown.
05
The Electromatic™ applicator has one moving part and no dynamic seals. Less to wear, less to maintain, less unplanned downtime than the pneumatic valve stacks it replaces.
06
Mounts to most OEM tissue and towel converting frames with standard hardware — an upgrade path for machines already in service, not a line replacement.

Spraymation tail tie adhesive systems are at work across tissue and towel converting operations worldwide, on the lines that finish the products people use every day.
Bath tissue tail tie — sealing the tail of finished bath tissue rolls at full line speed.
Paper towel tail tie — consistent tail sealing across wider towel formats and multi-lane lines.
Retrofit upgrades on OEM converting frames — replacing double-switch pneumatic arrangements on machines already in production.
Multi-lane and wide-web converting — higher head-count configurations for full-width coverage in a single shot.
Core gluing and ply bonding — adjacent adhesive applications on the same converting line, using the same Electromatic™ applicator platform.
If your converting line has an unusual frame geometry, a non-standard head count, or a trigger architecture that off-the-shelf equipment can’t accommodate, our engineering team can design a system built specifically for it.
A Spraymation tail tie system can be supplied as a complete turnkey package with the controls, fluid handling, and applicators your line requires.
Stainless steel control enclosures with programmable electronic timers, per-applicator AUTO / OFF / TEST selection, and passive-contact or shaft-encoder trigger inputs.
High-pressure stainless steel pumps rated for continuous duty, Teflon-lined jacketed hoses, nitrogen-charged accumulators, and recommended 100-mesh fluid filtration.
The complete Electromatic™ applicator family — spray and extrusion configurations for tail tie, core gluing, ply bonding, and the full range of converting applications.
Quick answers to the questions we get most often about Spraymation tail tie spray systems, retrofit compatibility, and trigger integration.
Don’t see your question? Our engineering team responds within one business day.
A tail tie system applies adhesive to the tail end of a finished tissue or towel roll so the roll stays sealed through packaging, shipping, and handling instead of unwinding. On a converting line, that adhesive has to be placed in the same position, in the same amount, on every roll produced — which is why programmable, repeatable actuation matters more than raw output.
The platform supports configurations from 4 to 24 guns. Ten-head systems are the most commonly specified, with 7- and 9-head configurations also standard. All configurations use the same control architecture and fire simultaneously from a single machine signal.
In most cases, yes. Our tail tie systems are designed to mount to existing OEM tissue and towel converting frames using standard hardware, with no machine modification required. Send us your machine make and model, frame configuration, and current trigger arrangement and we’ll confirm fit.
A double-switch arrangement depends on two separate trigger points and drifts as conveyor speed or product length changes. Our programmable electronic timer replaces both switches with a single trigger and controls spray start, duration, and shutoff automatically — so timing stays consistent across speed and format changes. The Electromatic™ applicators also have far fewer moving parts than a pneumatic valve stack, which lowers maintenance burden and unplanned downtime.
Yes. The system accepts either a passive contact input or a shaft encoder. Encoder-based triggering synchronizes spray to actual machine travel rather than elapsed time, which delivers the highest consistency on lines where speed varies during a run.
Delay and on-time are each adjustable from 0.0 to 999.9 milliseconds from the enclosure display, so coverage can be dialed in for any sheet length. The air circuit pre-fires approximately 30 ms before fluid to keep the pattern clean at the tail edge.
Yes. Each applicator has its own AUTO / OFF / TEST selection, so an individual head can be isolated and tested — or taken out of service for partial-line production — without shutting the machine down.
Our tail tie systems are built around the Electromatic™ spray/extrusion applicator platform, with all-stainless-steel wetted parts and a straight-line fluid path with no trapped areas. Contact our engineering team with your adhesive specification and line conditions and we’ll confirm the right applicator and fluid handling configuration.
The Electromatic™ design keeps maintenance minimal — one moving part, no dynamic seals or packings, and a fluid section that can be replaced as a complete unit. We recommend 100-mesh fluid filtration to protect the applicators, and we maintain an extensive spare parts inventory alongside factory rebuild and gun exchange programs, remote support by phone, email, and Zoom, and on-site service when needed.
